How do I learn more about 180 Together?

Click here to learn more about 180 Together.

How can I complete my pledged miles?
You can complete your miles in any fashion. Run, walk, bike, skate, ANYTHING!

Can I update my pledge?
After registering for the event, you can update your pledged miles by emailing us at communications@housingmatterssc.org

Do I have to track or submit my results?
No, you do not need to track your miles or submit your results. We will track our collective progress in reaching the 1,000 mile goal by tracking the number of miles PLEDGED.

However, sharing your progress is highly encouraged so that we can celebrate this accomplishment together. You can track your progress using the tips below:

  • Use a tracking device, such as a FitBit or Apple watch, or an app, like Strava, to track your distance and see how many miles you can accomplish in 10 days.

  • It takes a person, on average, 20 minutes to walk 1 mile. You can use this rule of thumb to track your distance if you’d like to walk device-free.

  • Share your results on the Facebook event page here so we can celebrate together!

Is there an age requirement?
Nope. This event is open to people of all ages.

Why do you need my address when I register?
By registering and participating in The Walk Home, you will receive a small thank you gift that will be mailed to the address you provide during the registration process.

Is this event in person?
NO. This event is completely virtual, which means you’ll complete your miles on your own time, at your own pace, on a route you choose. We are not coming together to celebrate due to COVID-19, but are happy to provide an experience that gets you outside and into your community to celebrate this huge milestone.

Where should I run/walk?
You can walk anywhere you’d like. To the store, at the beach, ANYWHERE!

We have curated some trails for you to explore if you are feeling adventurous. Click here to see what we recommend, do some research to find a new trail, or just head out to your favorite walking path!

Why should I submit a photo or video?
Sharing a glimpse into your celebration of our huge achievement through 180 Together will allow everyone to feel more connected while still staying distanced and safe. By sharing your participation, we can still find togetherness through our individual experiences!

We will be compiling the photos and videos submitted to make a celebratory video at the end of the event. It will be shared with the broader community as well as 180 Together participants and front-line workers. By sending us videos and photos you are showing appreciation for all of the hard work that was required to house 1,000 community members.

How do I submit a photo or video?
You can submit a photo or video in three ways:

  • Post the photo/video on our Facebook page to interact with other participants and keep up with other’s progress

  • Post on social media using #thewalkhomesc

  • Email us your photos/videos at communications@housingmatterssc.org

I pledged my miles but do not see that reflected on the main event page. Did I do something wrong?

You did nothing wrong, don't sweat. We manually update the pledged miles at the end of every business day, so check back in tomorrow to see the most updated pledge!
