Description
Join the Boys and Girls Clubs of Santa Cruz County, Santa Cruz County Parks, and El Rosal Bakery for Día de los Muertos Festival & 5K/3K. This community event will bring families together for a day of fitness and fun while celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Fundraising will support youth programs in Santa Cruz County.
A family friendly 5k/3k Run/Walk along the ocean will kick off the 7th Annual Día de Los Muertos Festival in the heart of Live Oak in Santa Cruz, CA. This fun and inclusive community event will feature a diverse line-up of traditional Mexican dance, colorful costumes, face painting, special performances, homemade altars (ofrendas), and food vendors. Admission to the festival is free after the run.
The 5K/3K ocean view course along East Cliff Drive is open runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. Run Start/Finish is at 18th Avenue and East Cliff Drive. The 5k start at 9:00 am and the 3k starts at 9:30 am. Strollers are welcome.
Free event parking is available to all festival and run participants at the following locations: Del Mar Elementary/Cypress High School (1959 Merrill Street, Santa Cruz), Shoreline Middle School (855 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz), and Simpkins Family Swim Center (979 17th Avenue, Santa Cruz). Shuttle service from event parking lots to Run Registration and Festival will be available from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Registration fees are $10 for youth, $35 for adults, families $50 (max 2 adults) and $75 for groups of four. Registration fee includes a tee-shirt, swim pass for Simpkins Family Swim Center, water bottle, and one free beer at the Festival (for 21 and over), which can be picked up after the Run at the Registration Tent.
Run bibs can be picked up at the Run Registration Tent the morning of the Run from 7:30 am - 8:45 am. The Registration Tent will be located in the corner of the East Cliff Shopping Center parking lot (21513 East Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz, 95062).
Register by Friday, October 11 to receive a t-shirt.
