Description

Join us for the inaugural Bunny Hop & Hunt 5K as our community stands together for prevention against sexual violence and child abuse.

The inaugural Prevention Day Bunny Hop & Hunt 5K on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 9:00am at Coldstream Park in Northwest Lexington.

Our race features a chip timed 5K run/walk event, a Kids 1/4 Mile Bunny Dash and an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids.  Registrants for the 5K and Kids Dash receive a commemorative race T-shirt.  The Easter Egg Hunt is a free event but kids must register so we have a good head count.  We'll have vendors, face painting, public service vehicles and more.  For the 5K we'll provide awards for Top 3 M/F, age groups and largest team.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and our goals are to promote awareness about the dangers of child abuse and steps that can be taken to prevent it in the community, present educational tools and reminders that spread the message of protecting children, focusing on positive parenting and keeping kids safe.  April is also Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) that is recognized by both civilian and government communities. Together, we can work to reduce, and hopefully eliminate sexual assaults from our communities and places of work.

FORM OR JOIN A TEAM AND SAVE     We encourage you to start or join a team to ramp up your fun.  Teams of 5 or more SAVE $5 on each registration. There will be a prize for the largest team.

VIRTUAL RUNNER/WALKER OPPORTUNITY    If you can't join us in person for the race consider registering as a virtual runner/walker.  For a $25 donation we'll mail you your commemorative race shirt and bib and you can run/walk/hop your own 5K in your own hometown on your own schedule.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) --- Charity Partner

Our race charity partner is CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).  A portion of race proceeds and 100% of donations will go to help support the mission of CASA.

CASA advocates are unique. Unlike lawyers and social workers, who are required to consider the parents’ or family’s interests, the CASA advocate focuses solely on what is best for the child(ren). Quite often throughout the child’s case, the foster parents, social workers, schools, towns, and everything else in the child’s life will change many times due to placement. One of the goals of CASA is to minimize these changes, both by providing continual monitoring and advocacy for the child, and by being a stable and constant person in this child’s life.

CASA advocates are everyday people with a passion for helping children. Our CASA advocates are appointed by judges and trained to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children. CASA advocates stay involved with each child until that child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many of these children, the CASA advocate is the one constant adult presence in their lives.

Our Mission
CASA OF LEXINGTON’S TRAINED AND SUPERVISED VOLUNTEERS ADVOCATE THROUGH THE FAMILY COURT SYSTEM TO ENSURE ALL VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT ARE SAFE AND THRIVE IN A PERMANENT HOME.

Our Vision
A COMMUNITY WHERE EVERY CHILD LIVES AND THRIVES IN A SAFE, CARING AND PERMANENT HOME.

The Bunny Challenge --- Help Us Raise $1,000 in Donations to CASA

We've created a Bunny Challenge to help us raise $1,000 for CASA.  Here's how it will work...

James “Shane” Ensminger has agreed to volunteer for this great event, but he needs a little push!  If donations hit $ 1,000 by St. Patricks Day then Shane Ensminger will proudly
be the Prevention Day Bunny Hop & Hunt’s Easter Bunny!  You can take as many photos with the bunny as you wish!

Shane is a retired from Lexington Police Department where he served as a Sergeant in the Special Investigations Section, the Assistant Commander of the S.W.A.T. Emergency Response Unit, a Sergeant of the Narcotics Unit, and other capacities within the police force.

Let’s get the message out there and get him in the bunny suit!! All those that donate during this time frame get their name entered into the “Bunny Suit Donation” give-a-way for a special prize provided by Bourbon Creek!  Every $5 donation gets your name in the Easter basket raffle to win.  Donations can be done on the website or for donations straight to CASA of Lexington, please inquire so they can  provide the tax deduction letter.

Please help us get Shane in the bunny suit by donating today or when you register for the race!
