Description
For the past 12 years I have been a marathon and ultra marathon runner. On my next birthday I will be 70. In the year of my 60th birthday, I ran 6 marathons. For my 65th birthday, I ran 65 miles. So, I thought it seemed appropriate that I would celebrate my 70th birthday with a 70 mile run. Each time, I have raised money for local charities. This 70@70 Birthday Run event is raising money for Special Olympics Area 12. My heart is drawn to Special Olympics because I have seen my nephew, Roger, benefit from the program as a Special Olympics athlete for over 30 years. Please help me support the Special Olympics athletes in our area by running with me for part of the 70 miles at Larry's 70@70 Birthday Run. I will be running ten 7 mile loops during the day. I'm old and I'm slow, and I'll be running 70 miles, so this is a fun run event and not a race. I'm looking forward to enjoying the time with and encouragement from other runners throughout the day. You can run one or more of the 7 mile loops. Loop 1 begins at 4am and each successive loop begins every 100 minutes after that. Everyone who signs up and pays the $70 to support Special Olympics will receive an event t-shirt and medal.
