Description

Do you need to run a "virtual" 5K, and you're looking for the right time and place?  Or do you just want to see how well you can run 5K on the track?  Let's meet on the track at Eastern View and run the 12 1/2 lap race.

Why pay $25-40 when you can race for $0.00?  No race fee and no signup fee assessed by this website.  Total cost: $0.00 + $0.00 = $0.00.  Register here or just show up to race (but I'd prefer that you register so I know people are coming, and I can keep you informed if plans change).

BAD WEATHER: If the weather is terrible (T-storms, heavy rain AND cold, or snow) I'll probably cancel.  Watch your email (that's a good reason to sign up) and/or this website on Friday, Nov 21.

COVID-19 PROTOCOL:
Roll your own.  Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, social distancing... it's all your choice.  But, as a practical matter, when we're running, we can't stay away from one another.  Use your own judgement and decide if you want to participate under these conditions.

Eastern View High School has a beautiful track, and it's open to the public.  Who's the public?  We are.  I've checked the school's athletic schedule, and the track is not in use on Saturday, Nov 21 at 11am, so... let's have a race!  Runners will be responsible for counting their own laps and getting their own time.  I'll get your times and post results on this race page.

Please be ready to run by 11AM.  Get there as early as you need to for a proper warmup.  I'll be warming up on the track by 10:30.  Find me and let me know you're there for the race.

TRACK: Located off the first parking lot on your left as you enter Cyclone Way, just past the baseball field.  It's the smaller lot opposite the huge soccer-field parking lot.  Park, walk across either of two foot bridges, and the track is right there.  Restrooms at the track are always open.

Why a guerrilla race?  Because if I get official permission to have a race, the county will make me buy liability insurance (which costs like $300).  BUT the track is open to the public, and I run there myself all the time with no insurance.  So that's what we're doing; members of the public just showing up and running.  We just happen to be timing ourselves.  All good.
