About Us
Animal Rescue Foundation, also known as ARF, is a beacon of hope for animals in Beacon, NY, and beyond. Founded by Barbara Shea in 1986, this volunteer-driven, no-kill animal rescue and shelter has been tirelessly dedicated to the welfare of cats and dogs in need.
ARF’s mission is clear: to help lost, unwanted, abused, and abandoned cats, dogs, kittens and puppies, providing them with the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve. Through a combination of rescue efforts, rehabilitation programs, and sheltering services, ARF works tirelessly to ensure that every animal that comes through its doors is given the opportunity to find a loving forever home. And for those animals that face challenges, ARF goes above and beyond by offering permanent homes and ongoing care, ensuring that even the hardest-to-place animals can live out their lives in safety, comfort, and dignity.

Join the Annual ARF 5K RUN & WALK With The Dogs and help save the lives of hundreds of cats and dogs! This event is Beacon's only nonprofit sporting event dedicated to saving animals' lives. On this day, animal lovers and athletes of all ages lace up and hit the pavement in support of ARF where 100% of the profits go to support the animals
The 1K KIDS FUN RUN is a fun event for children ages 3-10. Participants will receive a finisher prize. Dogs are not permitted to participate in the 1K Kids Fun Run.
REGISTRATION FEES:
5K RUN & WALK
$30 – Early Bird Special Rate
$35 – Regular Rate Starts April 1st
$40 – Race Day

EVENT SWAGS:
All participants who register by April 30th will receive a Unisex Event T-Shirt and a Custom Dog Tag
Participants who register after April 30th, 2025 will have the option to purchase while supplies last. Please check in at the swag pick-up table after the race to check for availability.
The ARF Annual Run & Walk with the Dogs is held rain or shine; all registration fees are non-refundable.
Strollers are allowed on the 5K race course.
Dogs that are non-aggressive toward people and other animals are welcomed on the 5K race course. All dogs must be current on their vaccinations and always leashed. Retractable leashes, including bungy-style leashes, are prohibited at any time. Each adult participant may be accompanied by one (1) dog and that dog will receive an event dog tag.
