The Sportable River City Slam is one of my favorite events that we host annually at Sportable. It also happens to fall on my birthday (June 9th) pretty much every year we host it, and I get to celebrate it with our awesome staff, volunteers, athletes, and wheelchair tennis players from around the US. Yes, ultimately it's work, but I wouldn't still be working for Sportable after 7.5 years if I wasn't enjoying myself while on the job!
Sportable means a lot to me (if you haven't noticed), and this year's River City Slam weekend (aka my bday weekend) is set to be our best Slam yet. As part of Slam weekend this year, we are hosting the River City Slam Run/Roll Tournament in conjunction with our Welcome Reception. I have a birthday goal of raising $500 towards this event to support Sportable's mission to create opportunities by making sports accessible and inclusive for individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments.
