The Berry Half Marathon / 10k / 5k has been postponed to Saturday, May 22, 2021 in our continued effort to have an in-person race this year. While we, like all of you, are disappointed that an in-person race cannot take place on March 6, we’re incredibly optimistic that postponing the race until May will provide a safer race experience for our participants, volunteers and staff. Registered participants will have the choice to defer to one of the following:
In an effort to provide a safe race experience for all of our participants and volunteers we are implementing COVID-19 polices and procedures for the 2021 race. As we approach this year’s race, we will continually revisit these policies and procedures and make additional updates to provide the safest environment.

There are no public roads! The race follows the “stretch road” to the mountain campus, past Frost Chapel, Berry College Elementary & Middle School, and the Old Mill, through the WinShape dairy barns, down Possum Trot Rd., and back to main campus on the Viking Trail to the finish line at the Ford Buildings. This is a relatively flat course with a few moderate hills (see elevation chart below). The bulk of the course is run on paved surface with a short distance on hard-packed dirt road (mile 6-7 to the Old Mill) and another short distance on gravel (mile 8-9 on Possum Trot Rd).
Half Marathon Start Time: 8 am (Starts with 10K)
USATF Certified Course – The half-marathon is a USATF certified course open to runners and walkers.
Fast and flat 10K follows Lavender Mountain Road and the Viking Trail and winds through main campus. First time runners and walkers are welcome, however for safety reasons strollers will not be allowed. **Please note: The course cuts through the woods to the Viking Trail at mile 3.5. This short section is not paved (25 yards).
10K Start Time: 8 am (Starts with half marathon)
USATF Certified Course – The 10K is a USATF certified course open to runners and walkers.
USATF Certified. Fun for the whole family! 5K begins at the Ford Buildings and winds past Hermann Hall and the log cabins. The route follows Lavender Mountain Road and cuts over to the Viking Trail before returning to the Ford Buildings. First time runners and walkers are welcome, however for safety reasons strollers will not be allowed.
5K Start Time: 8:20 am
USATF Certified Course – The 5K is a USATF certified course open to runners and walkers.
The half-marathon course has six water stations, which have water and PowerAid. Two Stations will have energy gels in addition to water and PowerAid.
The 10K course has three water stations, which have water and PowerAid.
The 5K course has two water stations, which have water and PowerAid.
A race wouldn’t be complete without a goodie bag! Packet pickup will be held in the Krannert Ballroom at Berry College from 12 – 7pm the day before the race and from 6 – 7:30am the day of the race.
All half marathon runners will receive an official short-sleeve tech T-shirt and post-race refreshments. All half marathon runners will receive a finisher’s medal. All 10K / 5K runners will receive an official short-sleeve 50/50 T-shirt and post-race refreshments.
The half-marathon course will be open for four hours. All walkers and runners must finish within the four-hour cutoff time. Walkers who start the race before the 8:00 start time will not be permitted through the finishing chute. For everyone’s safety, baby joggers, strollers, baby carriers, baby backpacks, inline skates, motorized scooters, bicycles, skateboards, canes, crutches, walkers, walking sticks and animals of any kind are prohibited from the course. Violators will be removed from the course and transported to the finish line area. Unfortunately due to safety concerns, we are not able to accommodate wheelchair athletes at this time.
