The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club (MPRRC) seeks proposals from qualified individuals or organizations to operate the five races included in the Marathon Readiness Series starting with the Norman K. Tamanaha 15K scheduled for August 11, 2024.
Background
MPRRC is a charitable, not-for-profit organization that is exempt from taxation under Section 501(C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  MPRRC was founded in 1962 to promote and support the sport of running in the State of Hawaii.  Our website at www.MPRRC.com will provide you with our Charter, By-laws, Directors and many other details.
Marathon Readiness Series
The five races included in the Marathon Readiness Series and their scheduled dates for 2024 are:
            Aug 11, Norman K. Tamanaha 15K
            Sept 1, Runner’s HI 20K
            Sept 29, Windward 25K
            Oct 20, 30K
            Nov 10, Val Nolasco Half Marathon
The required park and road permits for the above races have already been submitted for 2024.
Responsibilities:
The operator will:
·       be responsible for all aspects of putting on the above-described races, including promotion, advertising, obtaining volunteers, safety procedures, permits, off-duty police, insurance (other than liability coverage provided by MPRRC), packet pickup, course certification, bib numbers, timing, aid stations, awards, refreshments, etc.
·       determine the individual prices that participants will pay to enter the races.
·       be free to obtain sponsors or other contributors.
·       receive all proceeds from all sources relating to the above races.
·       pay all expenses relating to the above races.
·       pay the music license fee for the music license provided by MPRRC for 2024.  Subsequent years are subject to the music license fee only if music is played at the races.
·       pay a per race fee to MPRRC.
 
MPRRC will:
·       promote the above races to its membership and the general public.
·       provide liability insurance coverage for the races with the operator as an “Additional Insured” party.
·       provide the registration platform (RunSignUp) for the Series and the races.
·       not compete with the above races.  MPRRC will not schedule or promote any races that compete with the above-described races.
Duration of Agreement
The duration of this Agreement shall be for a three-year period covering 2024, 2025 and 2026.  The operator shall have the option of renegotiating this Agreement for an additional three-year period on similar terms as set forth in this Agreement.
 
Discount for MPRRC Members
The operator shall provide a mutually agreed upon discount (at least $25 for the Series) from the posted entry price for the Series for MPRRC members.  There will be no individual race discount.  MPRRC will assist in verifying membership of entrants.
 
Adding Events
The operator may add races of different distances to the existing races with written approval from MPRRC.
 
Fee Payable to MPRRC
Please state your proposed per race fee, payable to MPRRC at the conclusion of each of the above-described races.

The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club is Hawaii’s largest running club. Founded in 1962 and based in Honolulu, Hawaii, the MPRRC organizes more than 20 races per year. From marathoners to first-time 5K athletes, we take pride in welcoming all types of runners. The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and a member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). MPRRC maintains a network for the running community, motivates runners, raises money for local charities, and provides safe, well-managed races every year.

Mother's Day Beauchamp 5K, 10K, & Keiki Fun Run/Walk, Sunday, May 12, 2024
Celebrate Mother's Day the Runner's Way!  
The Mother’s Day event this year is 10K FUN RUN, 5K FUN RUN, and KEIKI FUN RUN in beautiful Moanalua Valley.These events will not be officially timed.
The start and finish area uses the Moanalua Community Park and the adjacent Moanalua Gardens. Parking is at the Moanalua Gardens, 2850-A Moanalua Road, Honolulu, https://www.moanaluagardens.com/
All mothers (and potential future mothers) receive a finisher rose! Run registration includes an all- day pass to the Moanalua Gardens, so bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the beautiful setting for Mother’s Day.

July Club Races!

Sunday, July 14, 2024Kailua Beach 4.4-Mile Shark Chase, 6:30 a.m., Kailua Beach near the Boat Ramp. This unique out & back course, entirely on the wave-washed, hard-packed sand of Kailua Beach is a "shoes optional" event. High tide will be 4:03 a.m. so your toes might get wet! There will be a "shark" to chase - can you catch the shark? Pot luck and talk story after the race! This is one you don't want to miss!

Sunday, July 21, 2024Lanikai 8K Run in Memory of Daniel Levey, 6:30 a.m., Kailua Beach near the Boat Ramp (hey, easy to find because you were here last week at the Shark Chase!). A scenic 8K Run/Walk through beautiful Lanikai AND when you finish there is free shave ice by Island Snow! This race is held in memory of Daniel Levey and generously supported by his parents, Dr. Joyce Cassen and Norm Levey. There is a special award given to the male winner in his age group.

Friday evening, April 12, 2024, the Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club Annual Banquet and Membership meeting at the Ala Moana Hotel's Garden Lanai was loaded with good times, good food, friends, and awards! A terrific guest speaker panel (pictured below) - Cosmo Brossy, Michael Chin, Jeremy Morgan - shared their knowledge and running experience with the crowd. Awards, custom made by Everette Jellinek, were presented to the Outstanding Volunteers, Top Finishers in the Great Aloha Run Readiness Series, and the 2023 MPRRC Outstanding Runners. The Outstanding Runner awards were age graded by Craig Knohl. At the meeting portion of the gala event, Race Directors were presented with bright yellow MPRRC Race Director vests and an election was held to fill five Board vacancies. The Elected Board Members (pictured about with MPRRC Secretary Judith Inazu) are L to R, Ed Kemper, Craig Knohl, Judith, Steve Davidson, Jessica Kieschnick, and Kawika Carlson with chaperone. Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members who join Sam Aucoin, Connie Comiso, Kane Ng-Osorio, and Joy Schoenecker as the nine-member Board. Many thanks to Banquet Organizer, Connie Comiso, and her tireless crew and to Joy Schoenecker for table and room decorations!
