We host fun, themed events for families and friends to have a great time and create lasting memories, all while supporting local causes.

Whether it's your first race ever, or you are a seasoned athlete, we have a race & a challenge for you!  You do not have to be an elite runner to start earning Awards!  No matter your pace, the BEST challenge is in YOU getting BETTER!  Below are awards you can earn on your effort alone!

First Time Participant!  Have you ever run or walked one of our events?  No?  Then rewards start with you signing up for your very FIRST Hometown Happenings event!  We would love to have you and will send you $5 towards your next race!

First 5K Award:  A 5K is 3.1 miles.  While it is a BIG distance, you can do it!   Check the “First 5K” box when signing up.  Completing your First 5K earns you:

• "First 5K" Medal at the race.

• $10 Gift Card to Fleet Feet Schererville

• From OrangeTheory Fitness:  1.  4 FREE class pack (must be used in 1 month).  2.  50% off your heart rate monitor if signed up with membership.  3.  FREE guest pass.

Hometown PR Club:  If you PR at one of our 2025 races, let us know by joining the Hometown PR Club – “PR” stands for “personal record”.  The Club is FREE to JOIN!  Let us know the race, year, & previous PR time, as well as which 2025 Hometown Happenings race you PR’d at & your NEW PR time.  PR Club members earn:

• PR Club Medal

• $10 Gift Card from Fleet Feet Schererville

• From OrangeTheory Fitness:  1.  8 FREE classes (must be used in 1 month)  2.  50% off heart rate monitor if signed up with membership.  3.  FREE guest pass

4 Events Completed!    Complete 4 events in 2025 and we will reward you the following offers from our fitness partners:

David Ralston Awardl:  Complete 7 events in 2025 and you will receive:

• David Ralston Award plaque with your name.  Named for David Ralston, our Marine friend who attends nearly ALL of our races.  Years ago, David offered to be our designated “last place finisher” so no would ever fear being last!  For ALL of David’s efforts & positivity, we have named this award for him.

• $10 gift card to Fleet Feel Schererville

• $30 gift to a 2026 Hometown Happenings race.
