*Introductory meeting will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 8 AM before the first training run at the Valley Running Company.
Whether it is your first, 15th or 100th half marathon; beginner to seasoned veteran stand to gain from this program.
Those looking to run their first half-marathon should be up to 10 miles/week with a recent long run of 3-4 miles at a 14:00 min pace by Jan 20th.
Those looking to improve on a previous half marathon effort should be up to 15-20 miles/week with a recent long run of 6-8 miles by Jan 20th.
Our first run is Saturday, January 20th. This is a 12 week program and you should be able to run 5 miles before the first run. If you are unable to, or are not comfortable running 5 miles by then, the group linked below has a pre-training program to help you get to that point.
Who Leads the Program?
Shawn Jetton
Shawn currently resides in Hanover Township. This will be Shawn's forth year leading the VRC Half Marathon training program and is extremely excited to see many returning runners as well as new runners. A lot of the pace coaches will also be returning this year. Feel free to contact Shawn via the Facebook group or reach out to VRC for his personal email if you have any questions on concerns. Also if you need a little one on one while on a run to see how you might improve your running let him know before a run and he will pace couch for you and give you advise. Last year we have 5 new half marathon runners who all finished the half marathon with better than expected results. Don't be afraid to give it a try.
