Scranton Half Marathon Training Program

The Scranton Half Marathon Training program is designed to PROGRESSIVELY build longer distances. There is a Running Program, Galloway Walk Run Program and a Walking Program.

The Running Program will have paces range from 9:00 min mile thru 13:00 min mile. The training runs include speed workouts and tempo runs structured to improve overall speed, endurance, and strength while running.

The Run Walk Program allows runners to determine their own desired running pace while scheduling regular walk breaks at strategic intervals. For example, a beginner might start with a run-to-walk ratio of 30 second run to 30 second walk for the duration of the workout. 

The Walking Program is strictly walking and designed for someone who wants to be active and healthy and has chosen a half marathon as their next distance goal.

Please Read

In order to join the Running Program, you MUST CURRENTLY BE ABLE TO RUN 3 MILES WITHOUT ANY WALKING WHILE EASILY MAINTAINING A 13:00 MIN MILE. This is for safety reasons since we will be running through the streets of Scranton. If you can't yet run 3 miles while EASILY maintaining that pace, we suggest you join the Galloway Run Walk Program or the Walking Program so that you can build your stamina at an appropriate pace.

Membership Levels

Scranton Half Marathon Training Program: 01/27/2024 - 04/06/2024

Fee: $110.00

• Beginning Date: Saturday, January 27th
• Last Training Day: Saturday, April 6th
• Optional Goal Race: Scranton Half Marathon - 13.1 Miles, Sunday April 7th

Please note that SRC Scranton Half Marathon Training Program registration does NOT include registration for the goal race or any other race. Workouts are coached with participants running at a defined paced with other program participants.

Discount Week: January 27th - February 4th
Registered participants will receive 15% off of all regular priced Scranton Running Company merchandise and 20% off all regular priced Brooks merchandise. (Discount cannot be used on previous purchases and dates are non-transferable.  Reward points will accumulate but cannot be with the discount)

Half Marathon Training Days & Times:
• Tuesday @ 6:00 PM 
• Thursday @ 6:00 PM
• Saturday @ 8:00 AM

Location:
All groups will meet at the Scranton Running Company (SRC), but other meeting locations may be announced throughout the session.  Location changes will be announced at practice and via the email that you are registering with.

Membership includes Long Sleeve Tech Shirt, SWAG bag of nutrition & socks,  and a Culmination Breakfast on March 30th (time and location are TBD).
