Welcome to the Yorktown Triathlon Club. We are a USAT sanctioned club whose goal is to support, mentor, and bring together endurance athletes of all ages and abilities in a friendly environment where all can learn, teach, train, race and socialize together. Whether you’re just getting involved in endurance sports or you’ve been doing it for years, everyone is welcome.
Although triathlon is an individual sport, we believe every athlete can benefit from the shared experience and support this club provides. The club can be there for you, either by helping organize group rides, swims, and runs, providing training partners, cheering for you on the course, or scheduling opportunities to learn new skills through clinics.
The Yorktown Tri Club welcomes multisport athletes of all levels, from beginners to seasoned Ironman athletes. Membership costs just $25 per year and is valid for one calendar year.

President - Robert Read
Currently, my wife Kay and I are retired, living in Williamsburg. Prior to retirement we lived in Norfolk, VA where I was a Membership & Fitness Director for the YMCA of South Hampton Roads. I’ve also worked as a volunteer / part-time Strength & Conditioning Coach for Norfolk State University (Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Tennis) and the College of William & Mary (Track, Swimming, Golf, Gymnastics). Along the way I’ve picked up a few certifications ranging from Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) to Yoga Instructor (YMCA). My current non-tri exercise of choice is Pilates. My first triathlon was in 1989; the Outer Banks (NC) Sprint-Triathlon. My most recent was the 2019 Outer Banks Sprint-Triathlon. In between I’ve participated in over 60 triathlons and duathlons. I’ve been involved with the Yorktown Triathlon Club for the past few years, helping where I can with volunteering and serving as Sponsorship Coordinator.
Vice President- Monty Douglas
Treasurer - Doug Pegher
Doug is in his fourth year as a member of YTC. He grew up in western PA and has spent the last 24 years on active duty in the U.S. Navy. He is currently stationed in Little Creek. Doug started participating in triathlons in 2010 and competes as much as his military service will permit. He enjoys the camaraderie of multisport and looks forward to seeing everyone at our local events this year.
Secretary - Monica Fulks
I started triathlon in Aug of 2017. When I signed up for the Pink Power all women’s triathlon, I did not know how to lap swim and I didn’t own a bike; I had to “learn” really quick. I’ve since competed in the sprint, olympic, and half distances. I’ve been a member of the YTC since 2018 and my favorite thing about the sport is the camaraderie.
