After a very satisfying personal result in the 2021 Richmond Half Marathon, I've a given myself a new challenge to conquer.  On April 29th-30th, seven teammates and I will be competing in Ragnar Trail Richmond at Pocahontas State Park.  Our team will complete a total of 122.4 miles in an overnight, relay-style trail running race.  This will be a physical, mental and emotional feat.  Every team member will run a total of 15.3 miles in three separate trail loops, with at least one leg at night in the dark, on limited sleep.

Sports Backers - the prominent Richmond nonprofit race organizer - has been gracious enough to sponsor my team for this race, so I am raising money for Kids Run RVA, a program of Sports Backers that supports youth running clubs in the greater Richmond region.  Kids Run RVA gives elementary and middle school aged kids an opportunity to train for, and participate in local running races.  Kids Run RVA provides much needed resources to promote competitive running and to foster a safe and fun environment to build up their young runners' physical endurance in order to be ready for race day. This program also helps Richmond youth overcome barriers to participation by offering complimentary race entries, covering the cost of transportation to and from events, providing team t-shirts free of cost, and even outfitting youth in need with new running shoes. 

Please consider supporting my cause by making a donation to Kids Run RVA.  As a lifelong runner, I'm acutely aware of the purpose, structure, discipline, and self-confidence that competitive running can offer kids in this age group.  I can't stress how much I believe in this cause, especially in a time when healthy lifestyle choices are so important!
