FRIDAY MORNING EMAIL
Good morning and thank you for your support of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department! Though a bit different than our typical format, we are still very excited to bring you our annual Stop Drop and Run 5k event to support your local volunteer Fire Department. We wanted to give you some details about how the morning will go.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS RUN WILL START AT 10AM (different than our typical noon start)!
Check in Begins at 8:30. Please enter Leonard Rieck Drive (Formerly Aurora Park Drive) from the Creamery Lane end. A member of the EVFD will direct you to the registration table where you will be checked in from your car. You will then be sent to a parking spot. Runners/walkers may use the open area across from the firehouse, they may enter the firehouse to use the bathroom, but we ask that you do not walk through the rest of the building or congregate in large groups. We also ask that you wear a mask if you enter the fire house, when we have the pre-race meeting, and for the lineup. If you do not have a mask, we will have some disposable masks for you.
Upon completion of the race we ask that you maintain social distancing while cheering on other runners/walkers. There will be medals distributed in the parking lot after times are tallied. We apologize for the lack of after race festivities like we've had in years past. We look forward to a day in the near future when we can celebrate as a community again.

EVFD Stop Drop and Run 5k Mitigation Strategies
Thank you for the support of the 2020 reschedule of the EVFD’s Stop Drop and Run 5k. In these trying times of COVID-19 mitigation, we are committed to giving you the absolute best event that we can. In order to accomplish this, we are implementing the following strategies.
All registrations will be done online. NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION
All communication will come from the RunSignUp site, and we will post each email sent to athletes (including this one) at the top of the page under an EMAILS tab
Athletes will be sent a COVID-19 questionnaire, which must be filled out 24 hours before the event. In order to facilitate this, the questionnaire will be sent via email (and posted on the page) at 10am on October 23, 2020
Upon arrival at the Fire Department, MASKS ARE MANDATORY until you start the event. At the completion of the event, we ask that you put your mask back on.
Packets will be pre-assigned and pre-packed upon arrival. Upon arrival, we will have socially distant check-in (outdoors if possible, weather permitting). There will be NO EXCHANGES of shirts, so that we do not have to worry about cross contamination
During the packet pickup, your temperature will be taken. Any participant with a fever over 100.4 or above will be asked to leave the grounds immediately.
We ask that you distance yourself from everyone by at least 6 feet while waiting for the start of the event.
THE EVENT WILL BE CHIP TIMED. This means that your time does not start until you cross the timing mat at the Start/Finish line. We ask that everyone be prepared to start at the 10am start time, but you will not be required to cross the start mat until 10:10 am, AT THE LATEST.
Please note, this means that the first person over the finish line may NOT necessarily be the fastest runner. We will need a little time to go through the results.
At the completion of the event, there will not be an awards ceremony on the grounds.
We WILL have live results available through the TCR Event Management app (Google Play or Apple) or you can log in to the registration site to see results.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT PLACEMENT MAY CHANGE AS ALL RUNNERS COMPLETE THE EVENT. With a chip start, there may be a faster runner behind you.
Awards will be mailed out to all winners
There will be NO beer or BBQ at this year’s event, so that we can remain socially distant and within guidelines.
A great time for a great cause! Come out and celebrate our 5th running of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department's Stop, Drop and Run 5k run and 1 mile walk, on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. The fun starts at 10 am at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department. All of the proceeds go back to the Easton Volunteer Fire Department!!
Please keep in mind that your Easton Volunteer Fire Department fundraising for the year has been affected by COVID-19. This event will be one of the only events that will bring money in to the FD, and we want you to share the word! We are adding a VIRTUAL race component, so even if you aren't in the area, but want to help out, you can!! Also check out the DONATE button and the FUNDRAISING option!
With the event being so close to HALLOWEEN, we are happy to say that we are going to have awards for costumed runners!! Come out as a group theme, or try to win one of our other awards. More details to come!
There will be prizes for the top overall male and female, and top 3 males and females in the 12 and Under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and Above age groups. .
There are also special prizes for our local First Responders, so let your Fire/EMS/Law Enforcement friends know!! The same speedy group from the NSA has come and taken the cup for the past 3 years! We need to get it back here on the Shore so get your 3 fastest folks together and RUN!!!
