*About testicular cancer*
Testicular cancer is the #1 solid organ cancer in people between 15 and 44, and it is 95% curable IF it is caught early. Because he was embarrassed about the pain and swelling in his testicle and did not realize that these symptoms indicated cancer, Jaimeson did not alert his family to his pain and swelling for over a year, and his cancer was diagnosed very late. This meant that Jaimeson was faced with agonizing treatment and a poor prognosis for recovery. When his cancer recurred at age 19, Jaimeson ran out of treatment options, and he died at 20. Caring for a child with cancer devastates a family not only emotionally but financially. In our case, one of the many financial consequences was insufficient funds to pay for Jaimeson’s younger sisters to attend college. The Family Jewels Foundation's scholarship, the Jaimeson Jones Memorial Scholarship, was inspired by Jaimeson himself, who bequeathed his college savings to his sisters. Besides supporting local families who have endured childhood cancer, the Family Jewels Foundation #SavesGuysLives by educating about testicular health, in a funny, approachable way.
The Family Jewels Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) with EIN 80-0905365.
