I started to swim in 2014. It all started with the bubbles, but it became a passion after that. It's something that scares me and yet soothes my soul. There's a sense of freedom when you swim through the water. This will be my second time doing the Maggie Fischer Memorial Swim, and I need to redeem myself! I am also using this swim as a practice swim for the Mackinac Island 8.2 8.2-mile swim in August.
The money raised goes toward Hospice Care Network's Children and Family Bereavement Program. Hospice is a fantastic service offered to the community for people with terminal illnesses. This swim is in honor of my dad. The day of the swim was his birthday, and he was in Hospice at the end of his life. They were terrific and helped him. My dad loved the water and in his memory I'm going to do this swim.
I hope you will join me in helping to raise funds for the Hospice. They genuinely help many families, and it's a worthwhile cause. Thank you!
