Together for Hope Appalachia is engaged in poverty alleviation through asset-based community development in 57 counties of persistent poverty in the Appalachian region, including 39 in Kentucky, 8 in West Virginia, 7 in Tennessee, and 2 in Virginia. Our focus is on the four Priorities of Hope: 1. Education, 2. Health & Nutrition, 3. Housing & Environment, and 4. Social Enterprise.
We work closely with CBF Field Personnel, Scarlette Jasper and ministry partners such as, Bridge for Hope Bluefield, a partnership of local groups and CBF Virginia, Virginia WMU, and Baptist General Association of Virginia; the Emma Quire Mission Center in Owsley County a mission of First Baptist Church Frankfort; The Appalachian Immersion Experience, a mission of First Baptist Church, Middlesboro; First Baptist Church, Corbin’s Community Ministries; and the First Baptist Church, Williamsburg Food Pantry and Home Repair Ministry. As a coalition building organization, we work with a number of non-profit organizations, businesses, schools, churches and faith-based groups, government agencies, and individuals who share our asset-based community development approach to poverty alleviation. We continue to identify new partners and explore areas where we can come alongside communities to join them in asset building and poverty alleviation efforts. We seek to advocate for just political and economic systems for those living in areas of persistent poverty.
