Description
2021 marks the 50th year anniversary of the War on Drugs and our communities have been devastated. With Black people being arrested almost 4x more than white people, zero tax revenue towards restorative justice, and people with records facing discrimination from entering the workforce its clear that restoring our communities will rest upon the people. Join the movement to restore our communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.
To keep our community as safe as possible, we’re offering virtual participation and for our run to be adaptive- walk, run, skate, or bike to restore our communities!
- Virtual Race: Participants who chose the virtual race option can run, walk or bike the race anywhere your feet will take you — at home, on a treadmill, in your neighborhood or at your local park! After you complete your 5K, you will upload your performance times into RunSignUp to compete for awards.
- Awards: All participants who fundraise for the 5k will receive an award for their support at the following tiers:

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes:
The Massachusetts Recreational Consumer Council is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization.
Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations generally are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be deductible as trade or business expenses, if ordinary and necessary in the conduct of the taxpayer’s business. Therefore, any contributions received could be considered as ordinary and necessary expenses in the taxpayer’s business (i.e. advertising, professional fees, R&D, etc.)
Although donations are not “charitable contributions”, they can still be business expenses reducing taxable income, which is essentially the same effect.
