Help support Growing the Grassroots as I prepare to run the Vacation Races Mount Rainier Half Marathon! I've committed to raise money to support Growing the Grassroots by registering as a Charity Bib for this event.
As a co-founder and Director of Marketing, I am very inspired by this cause because I see with my own eyes the development and education we are providing to rural Sierra Leone, Africa. We are not only educating villagers on modern farming practices, but we are eagerly feeding, developing, and employing these communities as well.
These funds will go towards our permaculture demonstration farm in Tikonko. This year, we plan on teaching and farming more than just crops. We will be making a complete system where every output has a purpose to go right back into an input, so nothing will go to waste. This will include a fish pond, chickens, worms, flies, compost, and eventually pigs, goats, cows, and new crops like fruit trees that will shade our animals. Our huge permaculture farm will employ so many more villagers, feed so many people, and demonstrate a system that can be copied by others in the community.
I have until July 5, 2025 to reach my goal. Once I do, I'll be eligible to run!
