My mom, Maria, wore many hats in her life. One of those was caregiver, advocate and champion for her younger sister, Carolyn. Carolyn was born with developmental disabilities and has called the Spectrum apartments home for over 25 years now. Spectrum For Living has provided her with not only a place to live, but also a community to belong to, programming to attend, experiences in out in the world and more. Before mom passed, she began to rally her troops, as she so often did, to sign up for and fundraise for this walk. We hope that many of you can join us in New Jersey the day of the walk to celebrate both Maria and Carolyn. If you aren't able to join, a donation for an organization that is so important to our family would also mean the world to us.
In true Maria fashion, let's add a little wackiness and fun to the day. We ask you to pull out your best Hawaiian/beach attire to wear the day of the walk. Or maybe a wacky hat if you like! If you're feeling extra crazy, a costume would make you the true MVP of channeling her spirit.
We thank you for all the love and support you have shown not only my family, but all of Maria's people (there are lots of us) over the past few weeks. Keep it coming.
Love, Briana
