On Saturday, October 2nd, I will be participating in a race to benefit North Star Reach which is a camp for chronically ill children. I will be walking a 5K with my family and friends in memory of my niece Amanda Cohen who passed away in July after an 8 year battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. I would be grateful if you would consider joining “Team Amanda” in one of the following ways. My company, The Charles Reinhart Company, has generously agreed to match all donations at 50 cents per dollar donated. Amanda enjoyed her time at North Star Reach as a camper and as a volunteer. North Star Reach allows kids with chronic illnesses an opportunity to attend camp who otherwise would not be able to do so. Amanda loved her time as a camper at North Star Reach and met some of her best friends there. After she was no longer able to attend camp, she wanted to give other kids the opportunity to have the same experience and became a dedicated volunteer. She did not allow Pulmonary Hypertension to define who she was, even though it made her life more difficult. Her struggles drove her to help other people. Your gift of any amount helps deliver camp magic, connection and hope to campers and their families during a time when they need it most, just like it did for Amanda and our family. North Star Reach has served nearly 3,000 children and their family members since opening in 2016. Although there is never a charge to campers and their families, the cost of providing a medically-sound experience to this very special group of kids is estimated at about $2,500 each. I want to stress that this experience is transformative for many of the kids. I witnessed what this experience did for Amanda and her family.
