As most of you already know my family recently lost my niece, Amanda to a long battle with Pulmonary Hypertension. She was an amazing and inspirational young lady! She loved North Star Reach Camp. In fact while looking for a picture to post I came across her Instagram post that said “so happy I was able to share my favorite place with my family today 💞”
Located on 105 wooded acres and surrounded by freshwater lakes, sandy beaches, and rolling hills, North Star Reach is the only camp of its kind serving children with serious health challenges and their families across the Great Lakes Region. As part of the SeriousFun Children's Network, North Star Reach gives these children safe, medically-sound, fun-filled camp experiences that build confidence and foster joy. In the past year, North Star Reach has expanded to offer year-round whole-family centered programming, with more robust social support resources for parents and caregivers during these isolating and critical times.
North Star Reach has served nearly 3,000 children and their family members since opening in 2016. Although there is never a charge to campers and their families, the cost of providing a medically-sound experience to this very special group of kids is estimated at about $2,500 each.
I along with family and friends will be participating in a 5k in her honor. Our hope is to give back to a place that was such an important part of her life. We have made a team for the 5K and would love anyone who would like to participate in Amanda’s honor to join us. If you are not able to participate, please consider making a donation to my fundraiser.
