WAKD Foundation – Who We Are
WAKD Foundation Inc. (We Are King David Foundation) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Natchitoches/Campti, Louisiana dedicated to reminding people of who they are and the purpose they carry.
Whether we’re talking to a child at a basketball camp or an elder in the community, our message stays the same: you are special, you have purpose, and your story matters.
Through basketball camps, mentorship, community events and our Global Impact Tour, we work with people across the country (and now internationally in Brazil) to help them see their own value and step into their purpose.
Our flagship event, WAKD Weekend, brings together a foundation walk, basketball camp, community celebration and mentorship all in one weekend to serve the Natchitoches community and beyond.
About the Founder
Travion Kirkendoll is the founder of WAKD Foundation. Before stepping into that role, he worked as an assistant college basketball coach and wrote the book Built in the Dark.
He went on to join the Harlem Globetrotters, where he’s spent six years as “Diesel.” A Lakeview High School and Centenary College graduate from Campti, Louisiana, Travion built WAKD Foundation to give back to the community that raised him and to help others recognize their own worth and purpose.
