This year, all proceeds from Mission Dash fundraisers will be used to support the work of global partners addressing climate change. This includes building food security, addressing needs of climate refugees, and installing renewable energy technologies. Partners are doing so many inspiring things and it's exciting that we have the opportunity to share in this important work!
I am walking/running for the devastation I see and experience in Africa of the erratic weather patterns that is like a pendulum that moves between drought and excessive rains. At this present time, we are experiencing drought in the horn of Africa. Somalia, Northern Kenya etc. I am seeing with my own eyes children and adults dying because of crop frailer which means no food, no water to drink, in this season of a pandemic washing hands is a luxury in these regions. This is all due to Climate change due to environmental injustice. Another atrocity is the cutting down the tress by multi-nations cooperation’s in the Congo Basin the lungs of Africa and the world. The Congo Basin’s is the second largest rain forest to the Amazon it has a direct effect on the weather patters not only in Africa but the world at large. This is the connectivity of the world. The deforestation in this area, leads to the loss of biodiversity , the lack of shelter due to the cutting of the trees has caused the population of the wildlife to drop. As well as the soil erosion, these are just a few issues of the devastation of climate change due to climate injustice. I am walking/running for our ancestors who hand us the land to be stewards, for us, our children, and generations of the yet unborn. I submit myself to walk/run 10k and if my legs cooperate I will go longer. Please support me in this endeavor to raise $5000.00. Anything you give how small or how great is appreciated.
