Registration Here for Free!

In honor of Dysphagia Awareness Month, the USF Joy McCann Culverhouse Center for Swallowing Disorders will present an interdisciplinary panel of speech-language pathologists and physicians sharing current assessment and treatment options to improve clinical care and outcomes for our patients with dysphagia.  In this workshop, participants will be able to incorporate assessment strategies during modified barium swallow studies (MBSS) to better explain patient complaints when findings initially appear normal.  Additionally, they will identify how SLPs serve a critical role in a multidisciplinary swallowing team.  Finally, participants will be able to describe features of several esophageal disorders and summarize their medical and surgical management options. Because swallowing is a multiphase function, a combined team approach to dysphagia management can provide a more timely, robust, and effective response to our patients with dysphagia. This course will highlight a team approach to dysphagia management through didactic learning and case presentations.
