Zack loved Camp Care ...it was an integral part of his life ..and ours for that reason .He started as a camper in 1993 ...hesitant at first but soon a believer as he felt their love and support .He was helped and supported along the way by many many friends , counselors , and campers who shared the same "boat' ...they were immediately kindred spirits who navigated the waters of fighting , surviving cancer and the treatments together . It was a life long lesson which enriched his existence beyond measure ....and ours .Whether it was hanging out with Dan and Donna fishing ...a po boy with Carrie after the board meetings , laughing and causing mischief with Mikey ...or "moving in' with the St. Martins ...he was surrounded by many people who loved and supported him throughout his journey .They were his extended family .
He progressed through the ranks as he got older ...camper , counselor in training, and board of directors where he served as assistant camp director until the light of his Earthly life was gone .
We know that his legacy lives on in many ways ...always in our hearts and also in the hearts of his many friends ...and ESPECIALLY in the memories of his 'charges' ..those young campers whom Zack nurtured and lead ....quieted them and comforted them as they too navigated difficult waters in his position as counselor . They are the ones who knew him well ..and have carried on the Zack Man tradition by staying involved in the Camp Care operation .
It also lives on as we ask for your monetary support to continue this VITAL service to those youngsters and their families who are right now , facing those same trials that Zack did ...needing that help and support provided by this INCREDIBLE group of tireless dedicated volunteers .
This 5-K is the largest single fund raiser for Camp CARE ....your support is a blessing to these families ...and we appreciate anything you can do !!
