The Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools was established in 1988 to support Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) as a vision of Dr. Jim Parsley, the Superintendent of VPS from 1980 to 2002. Dr. Parsley saw what students came to school “without.” To help meet those needs, he established the Vancouver School District Foundation, the first K-12 educational foundation in the region.
35 years later, we continue to serve the youth and families of VPS. Each year we are able to put over $1 million back into our schools to fill in the gaps where public dollars cannot be spent. We support our families in a variety of ways from basic needs to mentoring to social/emotional health to career/technical opportunities and so much more!
