💚 Porter was diagnosed with KDM5C Disorder when he was 2 years old in 2015 at Cleveland Clinic. Now Porter is 11 years old and going into 6th grade.
💜 KDM5C is a master regulator gene that controls how other genes are turned on and off in our bodies, causing dysregulation in all parts of the body for a lifetime. For Porter this ultra-rare disorder causes nonspeaking autism, ADHD, challenging behavior, fine and gross motor delays, intellectual disability, high muscle tone, gastrointestinal issues, sleep difficulties, vitiligo, hypothyroidism, short stature and vision problems. Despite these challenges Porter is one of the happiest kids you've ever met with the best personality and a great sense of humor!
💚 The Cofer Family has formed Team Porter Proud to help raise funds and awareness for the non-profit KARES Foundation. The mission of the KARES Foundation is to improve the lives of those affected by KDM5C-related disorders through advocacy, research, education & support for individuals and families.
