Dear Friends,
I’m back at it again — and yes, I have once again voluntarily signed up to run the OC Half Marathon in 2026 in support of Project Youth OC.
For those keeping score at home, this is 13.1 miles of running… which is approximately 13.1 miles more than my natural athletic instincts prefer (slow pitch softball is still my peak performance sport).
But this one means a lot to me.
As Board President of Project Youth OC, I have the privilege of seeing up close the incredible work being done for young people right here in our community. Their mission is simple and powerful: to meet young people at a turning point and, through guidance, education and family-centered support, empower them to build a path toward success.
That mission isn’t just a statement — it’s real kids, real families, and real opportunities.
So while I’ll be out there questioning my life choices somewhere around mile 9, the purpose behind every step is very clear. Project Youth OC helps youth stay in school, avoid the juvenile justice system, and find stability, mentorship, and support when they need it most. It’s long-term impact, not quick fixes.
Last year’s training taught me two things:
- Running is hard
- Running with purpose makes it worth it
I fully expect sore legs, dramatic mid-run internal monologues, and an unhealthy number of “why did I sign up for this?” moments — but it’s all for a cause that I care deeply about.
If you’re able to donate, your support goes directly toward programs that provide guidance, education, mentorship, and family-centered services to at-risk youth across Orange County. Every contribution truly helps change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
Thank you for supporting this amazing organization — and for helping motivate me to actually finish all 13.1 miles (because once you donate, quitting would be extremely embarrassing).
