Strawbridge Studios is the oldest school photographer in the South, and remains a fourth generation family-owned business. We have been located in Durham, NC since our beginning over 90 years ago.J. E. Strawbridge, our founder, began taking photographs of students in 1923. Harold Strawbridge, his son, joined immediately after graduating from college in 1951. Harold’s son Ken did the same in 1978, and his twin sons Michael and David, and his youngest son Kevin, are all following suit.
In the past 15 years, Strawbridge Studios has expanded north to Delaware, west to Texas and Indiana, and south into Florida, now operating in over 14 states. The company has expanded from J. E. Strawbridge’s basement to our new state-of-the-art facility at 3616 Hillsborough Road, Durham, North Carolina.
We are proud to be one of the founding members of the Professional School Photographers Association (PSPA), a division of the Photo Marketing Association (PMA). The PSPA is dedicated to the principles of improving the quality and ethical standards of school photography.
