My name is Becky and I am a proud RVT. I’ve been in the field for over 11 years and have worked in various aspects of veterinary medicine. I’ve worked in shelter medicine, research, general practice, emergency medicine and have spent a few years in management. I’ve seen first hand how detrimental compassion fatigue, burnout and chronic overwhelm affect our industry.
As a professor now teaching the new generation of RVT students, I make it a point to really try and give them the tools to protect themselves before going out into practice; something I wish someone had done for me.
Our industry is broken, and it’s going to take real and difficult conversations to see change happen. Here’s hoping the efforts through NOMV and all the participants can help spread some awareness and help save someone who’s not in a good spot before it’s too late.
