In early 2014, I lost a close friend to suicide. Veterinary professionals are 2-3 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population, and NOMV is a community that strives to address the mental health and wellness issues that plague our profession. They exist as a network for peer to peer support, outreach, and education with a goal of helping create a veterinary profession that honors and elevates sustainable wellbeing.
I’m running for Nate, and for the many others I’ve met in this profession whose lives have been affected by suicide. Let’s see if you can help me get to 90 miles this month (we’ll make it 100 if the race really goes til 10/8!). Because you are always enough, and you matter. And because there is always help.
