Hello friends and family, and happy SUDC Awareness Month!
For those of you who are hearing of it for the first time, SUDC - Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood - occurs when a child aged 12 months or older passes away due to unknown causes. Affecting approximately 1 in 100,000 children per year, it is extremely rare, and currently, there are no known methods of prediction or prevention.
22 years ago, my sweet brother, Josh, went down for a nap and never woke up.
For as long as I can remember, the SUDC Foundation has been a critical part of my family’s story. Some of you reading this who are around my age might remember going bowling and buying raffle tickets as part of our fundraisers. Some of you who are a little older might remember me singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” at our first fundraiser! Sorry, I won’t be doing that again, but I am once again asking for your support.
Please join me in funding the SUDC Foundation’s efforts to provide support for grieving families, advance research, and spread awareness for this uncommon but heartbreaking loss.
I am eternally grateful for your support in all forms as we continue to advocate for research that can lead to families like mine receiving long-awaited answers.
