I'm walking in memory of my Aunt Allison. This year will be 11 years without her, and without her I wouldn't even be a nurse! She never missed an opportunity for a free t-shirt or a 5k. She was diagnosed with a spindle cell sarcoma in her hip in September 2014 and passed away 12/4/14. I'm walking to find a cure, to give families more time together, and to keep patients as healthy and comfortable as possible!
I'm walking in memory of Tyler Trent. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma also in 2014. The "Tyler Trent Game" where Purdue upset #2 Ohio State at home 49-20 on 10/21/2018 was one of my all time favorite Purdue memories. Volunteering at The Challenge 5k every year to benefit the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research is also up there with my top Purdue memories!
Last but far from least, I walk for and in memory of the patients at Hillman Cancer Center. I have worked with the Melanoma/Sarcoma (mostly sarcoma) team for the past year and a half. The money raised through this event goes to directly support the doctors and trials that we work with, and our patients feel the benefits every day.
Please consider supporting us in our efforts for this worthy cause!
