Dear Friends,
Welcome to the our team's fundraising page! This year we are fundraising to support the creation of a fellowship program in Pediatric Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins Children's Center.
As a teaching hospital, our responsibility extends to the training and cultivation of the upcoming generation of pediatric rheumatologists who will shepherd our patients through the journey into adulthood. Presently, there are fewer than 400 board certified pediatric rheumatologists in the United States, resulting in a shortfall of providers and leaving numerous patients without necessary treatment. Surprisingly, a staggering one million children are diagnosed with rheumatologic diseases each year. Unfortunately, our current infrastructure falls short of accommodating the growing number of children requiring evaluation and care.
Looking ahead, the impending retirement of one-third of rheumatologic specialists by 2030 exacerbates the challenge, amplifying the pressing need for qualified faculty. To address this, we would like to establish a Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Program at Johns Hopkins. This program doesn‘t currently exist and the biggest barrier to getting is launched is financial support!
Philanthropic support will allow us the ability to recruit and support fellows, and provide unique training opportunities while they are at Johns Hopkins Children‘s Center. This kind of specialized training in pediatric rheumatology is hard to come by and highly sought after.
Please consider making a donation to our page to help us improve the lives of patients and families receiving care at Johns Hopkins Children's Center and around the country by training more pediatric rheumatologists!
Thank you for your support!
