Friends and family,
Welcome to our fundraising team for Miracles in Motion supporting John Hopkins Children Center. Our team, “Jonesing for a Cause”, will be raising funds to support the heart center and pediatric cardiology.
Our son, Jones, is living proof of the incredible power of modern medicine, tireless dedication, and compassionate care. Born with congenital heart defect (CHD), Jones spent 63 days inpatient at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Heart Center, where he fought through heart and lung failure and underwent open heart surgery to repair three heart defects (VSD, ASD, and PDA) when he was 1.5 months old.
Thanks to the brilliance and unwavering commitment of the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hopkins, Jones not only survived — he thrived. Today, he is a healthy, joyful, perfect little boy, and we are endlessly grateful. When people ask how he turned out to be such a blissfully happy child, we say “He’s just happy to be here!” And, gosh, are we happy he is too.
John Hopkins Children’s Heart Center didn’t just save Jones’ life; they held our entire family together, with care that extended far beyond the medical. We are forever indebted to the child life services team, and to the nurses and doctors who held us together during the toughest moments, laughed with us through the good times, and provided us with a sense of normalcy during our extended stay with them.
We are hoping to raise funds to help support this lifesaving center — to ensure that more children like Jones have access to the care they need, and more families are given the hope and healing we experienced. If you are able, please consider a donation.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your support. Feel free to come join us for the 5k walk!
With gratitude,
Jacqueline, Logan, and Jones Slusher
