First and foremost, THANK YOU to all of you who have shown up for me on my journey of almost 8 years.
During that time, I’ve had 3 cancer occurrences, 3 surgeries, ½ year of wound care and 15 months of aggressive immunotherapy treatment to fight the Stage 4 cancer. For the last 14 months, I've been able to say I AM DONE, I AM NED (no evidence of disease) again !!! I'm hoping it sticks !
I am very happy to report that my cancer has struck out. It’s had 3 runs at me and was crushed each time.
Thank you to all of you have made contributions to Pedal the Cause and supported Siteman in past years. The immunotherapies and blood screenings that I’ve received are new, cutting edge treatments and technologies and are the direct result of your contributions! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
For over 8 years, I have seen the Siteman Cancer Center team in action on a very (too) regular and routine basis. Their performance of highly skilled and specialized work while also recognizing each patient as an individual, has made a huge impression on me. It is extremely apparent and inspiring.
A very special thank you to the team that cared for me, Nurse Practioner Emily Peck and Drs. Fields, Annsstas, Litvin, Kozower, Chen, Gregory, Parks and Lynch for providing me with incredible care and compassion !!
Again, I ask that you consider making a donation to help me raise funds to support the Siteman Cancer Center . I'm a bit of a broken record in that regard. I also ask that you consider forwarding this link on to people you know that I don't. Kind of like my MS 150, St. Jude's, Team in Training and Engineers Without Borders events over the past 40 years...raising money to benefit people I didn't know. I'm now one of those who has benefitted from such generosity.
I won't be in St. Louis the day of the Pedal the Cause event this year, so I've set my sights on a different challenge. On August 30th, I'll be participating in a triathlon with my daughter Whitney. My daughters have participated by my side to celebrate my overcoming challenges by riding up the 10,000 foot high dormant volcano Haleakala in Maui and riding the 108 miles of the Florida Keys. They've also been with me for many MS Century and MS 150 rides raising money for other causes. I have not been able to participate in a triathlon, what was at one time one of my favorite things to do, since I began dealing with all of this cancer crap ! Whitney is helping me change that !
Thank you for your consideration! Mike
