We are proudly joining and riding for our Livi girl and all the brave, fierce fighters we know and love.
Livi was invited to join the Ride for a Child with team Edward Jones this year, and we feel so honored to be a part of this whole experience. We’ve been truly overwhelmed by the kindness of every “Pedal Person” we’ve crossed paths with and are continually in awe of the all good done and shared here.
If you’re new here, here’s a little bit about Livi’s story:
About two years ago, Livi experienced some concerning symptoms that we started paying close attention to as they began to impact daily life— she felt sick daily in the mornings. She was tired. Over time, more little symptoms began to appear but added up quickly.
We worked with her medical team to work through several different possibilities with no luck in getting her better.
After months of not feeling great, symptoms continued to worsen. At the start of kindergarten and with the help of teachers, we picked up on some concerning speech delays and hearing loss resulting in hearing aids.
On Halloween, we watched her struggle to make it just up the street to trick or treat, and we knew it was time for an MRI.
We walked into the hospital with our girl that day and left without her as she was quickly transported to Children’s after the discovery of a tumor on her brain stem. This was, no doubt, one of the scariest moments of our life.
After miraculously and successfully undergoing a long, risky surgery to remove the part of the tumor that the surgeon could get to, we were so relieved to see our girl again into eventually see her smile.
After a few long months of recovery, her newest scans left her team with some concerns and quickly after she started her journey of one year of chemotherapy with Siteman at Children’s— a journey she has endured with bravery, strength and positivity.
We feel so blessed to wake up to her sweet face every day and to share special experiences like Pedal that raise money for research for kids just like Livi and millions of others.
We are joining for the hope, joy and community that Pedal provides to families and patients during and after some of their hardest days. ❤️🚴♀️🚴♂️
