Dear friends and supporters,
The Boston Firefighters Relief Fund oversees the maintenance and upkeep of the beautiful Vendome Memorial along the Commonwealth Avenue mall. This memorial was dedicated on June 17, 1997, on the 25th anniversary of the tragic hotel Vendome fire, which claimed the lives of 9 of our fallen brothers when it collapsed unexpectedly in 1972. Today, almost 27 years after the installation and dedication of this memorial, the Relief Fund has been tasked with a significant renovation project that will improve the granite, lighting, pavers, and grounds encompassing this historic site. As the current president of the Boston Firefighter's Relief Fund, I take great pride in leading this fundraising campaign to raise the funds needed to restore the memorial and keep the foundation strong for years to come in remembrance of our fallen brothers.
