Story

Did you know that nearly 14,000 Nebraskans suffer a traumatic brain injury each year–and that number doesn’t even include injuries such as anoxic injuries (caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain), stroke, or unreported and undiagnosed concussions?

More important than the numbers are the issues faced by the individuals and families affected by a brain injury–namely the difficulties many face in finding resources and the support they and their loved ones need in their recovery process, especially as time passes after their initial diagnosis and treatment.

These problems stem from a lack of system capacity, a system where gaps exist in coverage and limited resources and services at a local level can leave the people needing support feeling abandoned and lost in the cracks.

Your support can help build community support networks that help individuals and families across the state navigate life changes resulting from a brain injury.

Your donation to the Brain Injury Alliance of Nebraska's Blazing Trail for Brain Injury Fundraiser helps:

  • Provide collaborative case management that partners with individuals, local community service providers, and state agencies to provide resources and support to individuals and families affected by brain injuries.
  • Educate individuals and communities on how to recognize brain injury and support individuals who've experienced a brain injury.
  • Bring awareness to the impact of brain injury through educational presentations, brain injury training, and other awareness campaigns.
  • Advocate for the brain injury community at the state government level by supporting advocates who follow the legislative process and speak for or against bills to benefit the people affected by brain injury in our state.

Will you give today and help build these support systems?
