2025 Walt Disney World® Marathon Weekend

Hi everyone! My name is Anna-Riley and I have dermatomyositis. Dermatomyositis is a rare disease with an incidence rate of 9.63 per one million people. It started out as an annoying rash and hive combo that would not go away, no matter how many doctors told me it was “just contact dermatitis” and sent me home with a prescription of prednisone. After the rash started to involve muscle soreness and an inability to roll over in bed or lift my arms above my shoulders, I knew something was seriously wrong. It took almost two years of medical gaslighting and advocating for myself before I finally got my diagnosis and went through 6 months of treatments and infusions before being declared in remission! Running for this charity is something I can do to help others in my position; no one deserves to be told they’re crazy and have to beg for answers.
