Hug a Child, Make a Change exists to motivate, empower, and uplift youth, families, and survivors by providing mentorship, violence prevention, mental health support, workforce development, and essential life resources. Through trauma-informed care, education, advocacy, and community partnerships, we create safe spaces where young people can heal, grow, and succeed.

Our mission is to break cycles of violence and poverty by meeting individuals where they are, pouring into their potential, and guiding them toward stability, leadership, and long-term success. Saleshea Peterson, founder of Hug a Child, participates in the Race Against Gun Violence in honor of her brother Deonvelle Keith.
