Stefanie 'Stef' Plaman's life was cut short when she unexpectedly passed away on May 5, 2024 at the young age of 43 of a pulmonary embolism.
Stef was a healthy woman. She had quit smoking well over 10 years ago. In November of 2023, she quit drinking. She was very active with her fur babies, Allie and Wilson, and typically took them on 3 mile walks every day. She had also recently gotten back into strength training as well.
In the days leading up to her death, she complained a little bit about being easily winded. She attributed that to her being slightly out of shape, but because of that, she was more determined than ever to keep up with her fitness goals. Little did she or anyone know, her lungs were full of clots.
Post mortem, the doctors discovered that Stef did have a clotting disorder that went undiagnosed.
Stefanie was a beautiful person, inside and out. Everyone loved her. She had this amazing ability to light up a room with her laugh and smile. Stef was one of the kindest people and always had time to listen, or be a shoulder to cry on. She always knew the right things to say, no matter the cirumstance. Her passing has left a huge hole in the hearts of many people.
We have created this group to raise funds in memory of Stef to help fund life-saving education, research, and outreach efforts that can prevent blood clot-related deaths.
