The mission of the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara is to ensure the availability of superior cancer care and patient support services for all residents of Santa Barbara County. The Cancer Foundation is the largest contributor to Ridley-Tree Cancer Center.
TEAM GARY! Take part in the Santa Barbara Triathlon SB10 event to honor beloved radio host Gary Fruin, who passed away January 2nd, 2025 of esophageal cancer. KLITE is inviting its community of listeners to challenge themselves and help remember Gary, who gave so much to Santa Barbara in his 34-years on the air. Let’s celebrate his voice and help others going through treatment. Participants will raise or donate a minimum contribution of $101.70 when they register for the SB10 triathlon (contribution is separate from event entry fees). These contributions will go directly to the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara.
"Team Gary athletes" will receive training tips online, and starting in late May, weekly in-person training with KLITE’s sports reporter and local athletic coach, Dawn Schroeder. Participants will also receive “Team Gary” t-shirts.
