For the fourth year in a row, I’m raising money for Bark in the Park—an incredible event where every dollar goes directly to helping the animals at THS. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of animals in need.
Let me introduce you to two of my own rescue babies—Chesney and Bandit—whose lives were changed thanks to THS.
Chesney’s Story
On October 5, 2025, I took home an 8-week-old puppy as a “foster,” knowing in my heart she was already family. Chesney was rescued from an Amish puppy mill, where she was bred solely for profit. She’s a Cockapoo, which some might call a “designer breed,” but what many don’t realize is the genetic devastation irresponsible breeding can cause.
Chesney is a double merle, a condition that left her with microphthalmia (severely underdeveloped eyes) and complete deafness. Because she couldn’t be sold, the breeder discarded her—thankfully, she ended up in rescue instead of worse.
Thanks to THS and the generosity of our community, Chesney got the medical care, love, and safetyshe needed. Now, she’s thriving in her forever home.
If you’re looking for a four-pawed companion, please research reputable breeders and check out local shelters or breed-specific rescues. There are so many doodles and purebreds waiting for homes!
Bandit’s Story
On October 4, 2022, I brought home a tiny 10-week-old kitten named Bandit to foster. He had cloudy, underdeveloped eyes—a condition known as microphthalmia. Thanks to the incredible THS veterinary team, Bandit underwent a bilateral enucleation, removing both of his eyes to ensure he could live a pain-free, happy life.
Just a few weeks later, on October 15, I officially made him part of my family. Bandit now navigates the world with confidence, proving that special-needs pets are just as loving and capable as any other.
