In May 2024, my friends Michael & Maria lost their beloved daughter, Aubrie, to sarcoma after a courageous battle. During their most difficult days, the exceptional care team at Dell Children's became their extended family, providing not just medical care but genuine compassion that made an unbearable journey a little less lonely.
From Grief to Action
Following their loss, the Peña's channeled their grief into purpose by:
Founding the Aubrie Pena Legacy Foundation Aubrie Pena Legacy Foundation, a non-profit to support other families facing pediatric cancer
Advocating tirelessly with the Sarcoma Foundation of America to bring their signature fundraising event to Austin, Texas, and successfully securing Austin as a new location for the Race to Cure Sarcoma in 2025 and doing it again on March 21, 2026
