On August 31, 2009 our world was shattered. Our beloved Lori, just 32,  was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer ( IBC). Her daughter, Nora, was only six months old and her son, Liam was just four. Lori had just gotten well established in her medical practice. She struggled to find appropriate treatment protocol locally (something she was determined would not happen to others) in Ohio and elsewhere). Lori put herself through torture to try to survive. After 40+ months, she passed away January 21, 2013.

Our hearts remain broken, but are determined to carry on her legacy of holding a charity event creating hope for others. ( Lori began and ran Hunt for Hope up until her death). Her determination and end of life mission was to save others from suffering as she did. Her event had evolved into Strikes Against Cancer. Through the incredible generosity of people like you and our incredible community, Ohio is now home to the first Inflammatory Breast Cancer Program at The James Cancer Hospital’s Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center, one of only a handful in the nation.
