ABL Fitness is a nonprofit fitness and wellness organization dedicated to making evidence-based physical activity accessible to autistic individuals. We believe fitness is without limits and that every person deserves the opportunity to build strength, confidence, independence, and lifelong health.

Founded by physical therapist Karen Hurley, ABL Fitness was created after recognizing the significant barriers autistic individuals and those with other developmental disabilities face in accessing quality fitness programs. Through medically informed exercise, individualized coaching, and inclusive group fitness, we provide safe, supportive environments where participants can improve strength, motor skills, confidence, communication, social connection, and overall health.
Our programs are grounded in the American College of Sports Medicine's Exercise is Medicine® initiative and are designed to meet each participant where they are. We partner with families, healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations to remove barriers to physical activity while promoting lifelong healthy lifestyle behaviors.
Every donation helps provide scholarships, adaptive equipment, trained coaches, evidence-based programming, and expanded access for autistic individuals and their families. Together, we are creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to move, thrive, and belong.
For too many autistic individuals and their families, finding a place to exercise isn't as simple as joining a gym. Traditional fitness environments often aren't designed for different communication styles, sensory needs, learning preferences, or the individualized support that allows people to succeed. As a result, many miss out on the lifelong physical, social, and emotional benefits of regular physical activity.
ABL Fitness was created to change that.

Founded by physical therapist Karen Hurley after more than 20 years of working alongside neurodiverse individuals, ABL Fitness was built on a simple belief: the barrier isn't a person's ability—it's an environment that wasn't designed with everyone in mind.
Today, ABL Fitness is a nonprofit fitness and wellness organization providing evidence-based exercise programs where autistic children, teens, and adults can build strength, confidence, independence, and meaningful connections in a safe, supportive community. Our programs are grounded in the American College of Sports Medicine's Exercise is Medicine® initiative and combine expertise in physical therapy, exercise science, adaptive fitness, and individualized coaching.
Every athlete is met where they are. Every success is celebrated. Every person is presumed capable.

Your support helps provide scholarships, adaptive equipment, coach training, and expanded access so more autistic individuals and their families can participate in life-changing fitness programs. Together, we are building healthier communities where everyone has the opportunity to move, thrive, and belong.
Because fitness truly is without limits.
