As one of Albuquerque’s longest-running and most cherished events, Run for the Zoo began in 1985 with just 800 participants and raised $3,000 in its first year. Today, it has grown into one of the region’s largest road races, welcoming nearly 12,000 runners and spectators annually, while continuing to raise vital funds for the ABQ BioPark.
Event funds support critical needs across the BioPark, from purchasing essential veterinary equipment and providing ongoing staff education to supporting habitat improvements and construction projects. Every dollar raised during Run for the Zoo helps ensure exceptional care for our animals and unforgettable experiences for our community.
